Course Overview:
English as a Second Language (ESL) I is designed for students who wish to improve their English language proficiency. It aims to improve the four English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, as well as vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and critical thinking skills through an integrated and communicative approach. This course focuses on general and academic contexts of language use and incorporates topics related to college programs. Upon course completion, students will have attained English proficiency at an approximate Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 level.
To be successful in this course, students must achieve a minimum CEFR B1 score on a CNA administered ESL placement test, Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5, or equivalent on a recognized test of English language proficiency.

Refund Policy
CCL Refund Policy for Part-time Continuing Education
For programs that are done over part-time hours/outside regular delivery hours, Students must notify Continuing Education of their Intent to withdraw or cancel at least 5 days prior to the start date of a course to be entitled to a full refund. If the Student notifies the office with the Intent to withdraw or cancel less than 5 days prior to the course start date, the Student will receive a 50% refund. A Student who registers for a course, does not notify the college of their intent to withdraw, and does not attend any classes, will be deemed a "no show" and will forfeit their tuition fees. In the event the college cancels a course offering, Students will receive a full refund. Special circumstances may apply to any of the above conditions, in which case supporting documentation Is required.
