College of the North Atlantic, with financial support from Department of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills, is offering no-cost 12-week courses in ESL Levels 1 and 2.
These ESL courses focus on academic language use and include topics related to college level courses and programs. The courses are designed for newcomers who wish to enrol in college level education and improve their access to careers and the local labour market. These courses are open to Newcomers with a language proficiency of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 - 10, CEFR B1 - C1 score, or equivalent, on a recognized test of English language proficiency. Free placement testing is available through CNA. See the entrance requirements for each level listed below.
OBJECTIVES

- Improve student’s English language skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking for academic purposes.
- Improve English language skills to enhance opportunities for work or education.
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Eligible participants must possess the following:
1. Successful completion of previous CNA ESL course (ESL I or ESL 2) with a 70% pass mark
Or
2. Either of the following:
