Reported CNA expansion plans not accurate

Stephenville, NL - Recent news stories concerning a budget submission to the provincial government containing a proposed expansion to College of the North Atlantic’s (CNA) headquarters and Bay St. George campus facilities in Stephenville are not accurate - no such proposal was submitted.
“We have a submission into the provincial government through the Department of Advanced Education and Skills, however no location or design has been proposed to the department at this time,” says Ann Marie Vaughan, President of CNA.
The proposed construction and expansion details reported in media are based on a previous proposal; they are not in the current request that has been submitted to government.
“It is an unfortunate situation that we want to clarify in the best interests of everyone involved,” says Vaughan. “We understand the importance of the college and its operations in the Bay St. George area, but we do not want to build up false expectations to residents, town councilors or to assert pressure on our partners in the Department of Advanced Education and Skills or other provincial government departments.”
