Students receive $37,100 in scholarships

March 8, 2001 - Fifty-two students at College of the North Atlantic, Corner Brook campus, received a total of $37,100 in scholarships at the campus’ annual Awards Ceremony on Thursday, March 8.

The ceremony paid tribute to the outstanding academic achievement of the recipients who represent communities across the province. Students in a variety of programs, including business administration, adventure tourism and programmer analyst, just to name a few, received awards.

“Scholarships are a significant contribution to the education of our students through the recognition of high scholastic achievement as well as assistance to those who may experience financial difficulties,” says Brent Howell, Associate District Administrator at the campus.

“These awards are made possible by the generous contribution of our donors and supporters that represent the foundation of our awards program.

“I congratulate the students who have won awards and scholarships. Their dedication to their programs is commendable,” said Howell.

“As well I thank the donors and supporters for their contribution and recognition of the need to foster the development of post-secondary education and a culture of life-long learning.”

College of the North Atlantic is the province’s only public college offering 70 full-time diploma and certificate programs and over 300 part-time courses. The college also provides customized training for the community and corporate sector.
