College of the North Atlantic (CNA) is pleased to announce that Cyril Organ, campus administrator at Bay St. George campus, will assume the role of Vice-President of Academic and Learner Services on January 12 at Headquarters in Stephenville.
Organ has worked with the college since 1985 in the capacity of instructor, program development officer, campus administrator and community development committee chairperson. He holds a Master of Education degree (Curriculum and Instruction) from Memorial University, and brings a wealth of experience in many facets of the college.
“Through my past experience, I’ve gained a real appreciation of the role of the college in facilitating meaningful social, cultural and economic development,” says Organ. “This position is simply an extension of that work, and with the skilled team that is in place throughout the province, I’m confident that we can build on the legacy of our mentors.”
In addition to the vice-president’s role, a new position was created to focus on learner support services. Elizabeth Chaulk, campus administrator at Corner Brook campus, has been appointed Associate Vice-President, Learner Services.
Beginning January 19, Chaulk will head the strategic leadership and direction of development, delivery and evaluation of learner services throughout the college and will serve as liaison between the college and the student association.
She brings a great deal to the role, with a Master’s degree in Education from Memorial University in Post-Secondary Student Services and 20 years within the college system in the positions of student development officer (SDO), student services coordinator, provincial coordinator for CNA’s SDO Co-op team and campus administrator.
“This role will be instrumental in facilitating a more dynamic approach… we’ve always focused on our students; however, we will be more proactive in supporting our learners to help maximize their experience and success,” says Chaulk.
Brian Tobin, current Senior Vice-President of Academic and Learner Services, will be moving into the vital role of Director of Academic Programs and Institutional Research on January 12.
CNA President Jean Madill is pleased with the selection and the exceptional leadership skills each brings to the Division of Academics and Learner Services.
“We have tremendous talent at CNA and I am very excited that we are growing and recognizing that talent,” says President Madill. “This leadership is just what we need to move the college forward.”
