One hundred and twenty students from the Prince Philip Drive, Ridge Road and Seal Cove campuses of College of the North Atlantic were the recipients of $98,200 in scholarships on Thursday, November 23. One third of the funds were from new scholarship donors.
The 34th Annual Awards Ceremony saw the auditorium at Prince Philip Drive campus in St. John’s filled to capacity with friends and families proudly watching each recipient accept their scholarship from the award donor.
“It was a celebration of academic excellence and student success and the wonderful generousity of donors goes beyond the financial support these scholarships offer,” said CNA President Bruce Hollett.
“Students are impacted by the investment that others have made in them and their education. Today the students have the opportunity to meet the individuals who are responsible for that. They can share their goals and thank them in person and equally, our donors have the chance to meet and chat with the students they are helping. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon!”
New scholarship donors included the following foundations, corporations and individuals: Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation, The Fry Family Foundation, The Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating, The Harrison McCain Foundation, Chevron Canada Limited, Scotiabank, Country Ribbon, Peter Gzowski Literacy Foundation, ATM Direct Engineering Technology, ACE Cabot, Friends of India, Friends and family of the late Jane Hryniw, Reginald Taylor, and friends and family of the late Janet Allen.
