Student wins gold

Nov. 2, 2000 - Congratulations to John Herlidan of Lord’s Cove on the Burin Peninsula, who has accomplished a first for a Skills Canada student from Newfoundland and Labrador.

He has become the first student from Atlantic Canada to make Team Canada by winning a gold medal in car painting at a Skills Canada run-off competition in Edmonton. He will go on to represent the country in national skills competitions in France next May and at the world trials in Korea next September.

John Herlidan attends the College of the North Atlantic in St. John’s.

Congratulations also to Travis Green of Port Hope Simpson, a College of the North Atlantic student in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. He won a bronze medal in sheet metal at the Edmonton competition.
