Stephenville, March 16, 2005 – As an organization that is student-focused, College of the North Atlantic understands the enormous financial strain faced by students when in pursuit of a post-secondary education. For that reason the college fully supports the provincial government’s decision to continue with a tuition freeze for both College of the North Atlantic and Memorial University of Newfoundland for the 2005-06 fiscal year.
“We currently have the lowest tuition of any college in Atlantic Canada and recognize this as a positive in terms of access to post-secondary education for our students,” says Pamela Walsh, President of College of the North Atlantic.
“We applaud government’s commitment to students that there will be no tuition increase for this coming academic year and will work closely with the Department of Education now and into the future to find innovative ways of addressing any challenges facing College of the North Atlantic.”
The government report CareerSearch, a survey conducted every two years that profiles the employment experience and earnings of post-secondary graduates in the province, consistently shows graduates of College of the North Atlantic have much lower debt rates than those graduating from other post-secondary options.
“The college’s low tuition rates, our many campus locations throughout the province, and our excellent distance learning service combine to provide an unmatched level of affordable access to quality post-secondary education,” says President Walsh.
