Cyril Farrell appointed Executive Director of APCCC

November 19, 2004 – Cyril Farrell, former Director of Programs with College of the North Atlantic, was recently appointed to the position of Executive Director with the Atlantic Provinces Community College Consortium (APCCC).
“We are pleased to have an experienced and dedicated senior college employee as Executive Director of APCCC,” says Michel Thériault, Assistant Deputy Minister and CEO of New Brunswick Community College and current Chair of the Board of APCCC.
“The Board looks forward to working with Cyril for the benefit of the Atlantic Provinces community college system and in particular, for the benefits to the students we serve. Cyril’s many years of experience with College of the North Atlantic at the provincial, national and international level will be extremely important as we advance the agenda of the Consortium.”
Mr. Farrell has had a long history of involvement in higher education serving as acting President of the former Central Newfoundland Regional College, as a District Administrator, Qatar Project Director and Director of Programs for College of the North Atlantic, and is currently serving on the province’s White Paper on Public Post-Secondary Education Commission as a special advisor on college issues.
In his new role with the APCCC, Mr. Farrell will work within the college communities throughout Atlantic Canada to identify areas for collaboration and cooperation to maximize the level of service and efficiency of the college system. In addition, he is tasked to work with external regional stakeholders to advance the benefits of college education and services for the social and economic benefits of the Atlantic region.
The Atlantic Provinces Community College Consortium is an interprovincial mechanism promoting and supporting the strategic development of regional collaboration, coordination, and sharing of resources among the Atlantic community colleges. This consortium, which reports annually on its activities to the Council of Atlantic Premiers, is officially recognized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the provincial ministers responsible for community colleges and the presidents of the community colleges in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
APCCC partners consist of the Department of Training and Development of the Province of New Brunswick, Department of Education of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Department of Education of the Province of Nova Scotia, Department of Education of the Province of Prince Edward Island and the New Brunswick Community College, College of the North Atlantic, Nova Scotia Community College and Holland College.
