March 3, 2004 – College of the North Atlantic Seal Cove campus is very proud to announce a partnership with Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Oil and Gas Development Partnership in the delivery of the Master of Oil and Gas Studies program (MOGS).

The MOGS program is a new executive development program to be presented at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) for the first time starting in January 2004. MOGS is a new initiative of MUN in executive education, which is specifically designed for the high potential employee, destined for the executive suite in the oil and gas industry, the associated service industry sector and relevant government agencies. It will provide a thorough preparation in, and complete review of the entire oil and gas industry value chain, including technical, economic, regulatory, environmental and socio-economic aspects. MOGS is an outstanding and unique executive development program, which will combine the best academic and industry professional instructional staff.

On January 23, 2004, students from the masters program gained valuable knowledge from the exposure to and experience with the petroleum related facilities at the Seal Cove campus. The students saw first hand the operations and demonstration of the Well Control Simulator, Separation Process Loop, and Drill Rig facilities from the highly qualified instructional staff at Seal Cove campus: Ed Mahoney, Don Patey and Robert Babb.

Mr. Gerritt Maureau, the Executive Director of the Oil and Gas Development Partnership, says the partnership with the college is very beneficial to students.

“The exposure to the petroleum related facilities at the college is an integral part of this Masters program.”
