Irene O'Brien, instructor in the Medical Radiography program, accepts the 2003 Dr. Marshall Mallett Student Exhibit Award on behalf of the Medical Radiography graduating class

June 26, 2003 – The 2003 Dr. Marshall Mallett Student Exhibit Award was presented to College of the North Atlantic’s Medical Radiography graduating class at the CAMRT (Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists) annual conference in Winnipeg on June 16, 2003. The students' poster session was entitled “Knees Up!” – illustrating positioning techniques for radiography of the knee.

The award (an engraved plaque and $500) was accepted at the conference by Irene O'Brien (pictured), instructor in the Medical Radiography program. Irene was also presented with a Certificate of Excellence for her paper "Distance Education: The Answer to Continuing Education for Medical Radiology Technologists”.

Presented for the best scientific or technical exhibit on procedures in radiography, radiation or nuclear medicine, the award was established to recognize Dr. Marshall Mallett for the kindness, commitment and generosity he demonstrated in working to provide the highest quality education for Medical Radiation Technologists, including his work on the Handbook of Anatomy and Physiology for Medical Radiation Technologists.

The category is open to students enrolled in accredited medical radiation technology training programs.

The winning graduates have donated the prize back to the program to purchase an item to benefit future classes.
