Stephenville, NL - College of the North Atlantic (CNA) has experienced a 3.2 per cent increase in fall enrolment over last year, welcoming 6,251 students and marking the highest enrolment in the past decade. This growth highlights CNA’s ongoing appeal and ability to meet the diverse educational needs of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Much of this increase is attributed to strategic program expansions and the addition of new offerings across high-demand fields. New programs introduced for fall 2024 include Early Childhood Education Advanced Studies in Inclusive Practice, Data Analytics, Pharmacy Technician, and Health and Safety Management, with additional student intakes planned throughout the academic year.

“This enrolment growth speaks to our ability to meet evolving industry demands and the commitment of our faculty and staff,” said Elizabeth Kidd, President and CEO. “By working closely with industry and government to identify employment needs, we can create training opportunities that equip students with valuable skills, preparing them for today’s workforce.”

Across its various schools, CNA has seen notable enrolment increases in Business and Information Technology (up 6.3 per cent), Engineering Technology (up 4.8 per cent), Health Sciences (up 3.5 per cent), and Academics, Applied Arts and Tourism (up 2.4 per cent). These figures highlight the college’s strength in attracting students to fields essential to Newfoundland and Labrador's economic growth.

This year, 14.9 per cent of students (930, up from 671 last year) are international, bringing new perspectives and ideas to CNA’s campuses throughout the province. Furthermore, 28.7 per cent of CNA students are currently enrolled in blended or fully online learning formats, ensuring greater flexibility and accessibility.
As CNA continues to adapt its program offerings to match industry requirements, it looks forward to building on this positive momentum, driving student success and enhancing Newfoundland and Labrador’s skilled workforce.

Looking ahead, CNA’s academic plan for 2025-26 has been approved, setting a path for early engagement with students for the upcoming academic year. CNA is actively recruiting lifelong learners with opportunities across a range of dynamic programs.
