College of the North Atlantic (CNA), in partnership with the Newfoundland & Labrador Construction Association (NLCA), is pleased to announce Industry Day 2010.

The event, which will open on Monday, November 22 at 8:00am at the Ridge Road campus lecture theatre, will see CNA students placed with a NLCA member firm for a day of job shadowing and hands-on experience.

“This is a perfect opportunity for our members to show students what a challenging and rewarding career the construction industry could offer them,” said Rhonda Neary, NLCA President and Chief Operating Officer. “This day was designed to familiarize students with real world applications of their program and increase their awareness of current industry issues, workplace and safety issues in particular.”

Initiatives like Industry Day 2010 provide students with an opportunity to connect their classroom training with first-hand workplace situations. It also provides them with an excellent networking opportunity as they explore career options throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

“Putting our students together with people in industry is a great way to build relationships that can lead to better employment opportunities for our graduates,” said CNA President, Bruce Hollett. “The college is very pleased to be a partner with NLCA for this special event and we look forward to the feedback provided by the businesses and corporations taking part.”
