Twenty-one students of CNQ-Q’s Banking Associates program celebrated being the first class of students to have graduated through a partnership between the college and CBQ in Qatar.

College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q) and the Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ) are pleased to announce that 21 students are ready to join the country’s banking industry.

The Qatari students were recognized for their accomplishments at the Banking Associates Certificate Ceremony, held at CNA-Q on Monday. They are the first class of students to have graduated through a partnership between CNA-Q and CBQ.

“The State of Qatar has set forth a mandate to expand its national workforce and we are pleased to partner with Commercial Bank to achieve this goal,” said Faye McKay, Dean of Business Studies at CNA-Q.

“This Banking Associates program is a really good chance for the Commercial Bank to develop national employees to manage and develop the banking sector,” Abdulla Al Raisi, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of CBQ, told students during the graduation ceremony. “This is a good opportunity to open your minds and develop your skills. We are really proud of you for joining the family of the Commercial Bank.”

Throughout the six-month program, the students were trained in areas ranging from financial statement analysis to customer service. “We thank CNA-Q for their commitment and hard work in order to equip us with banking knowledge and to prepare us for our banking careers,” said Class Valedictorian Rashid Ali Malheya. He also thanked the Commercial Bank “for the great opportunity to be part of an effective workforce in the banking and business sector here in Qatar.”

CNA-Q and CBQ plan to continue this recruitment and training initiative in order to move more Qatari students into the workforce. The next Banking Associate program will begin in the fall semester.
