About Port aux Basques Campus

Channel-Port aux Basques campus of College of the North Atlantic is located in the Southwest corner of the island, a historically rich community of approximately 4,000 residents. The Town of Channel-Port aux Basques is the Gateway to the Island of Newfoundland and is connected to mainland Canada via the Marine Atlantic Ferry Service.

For over 55 years, Port aux Basques Campus has dedicated itself to providing the highest quality of training and academic upgrading to the residents and businesses of the area.

For up to date information through social media, like and follow our Facebook page.  This site is quite active and contains current and relevant information for both new and future students.

The Town of Channel-Port aux Basques website will provide you information about the amenities in the area.  The Town boasts a fabulous sports centre, Bruce II Sports Centre, which is equipped with a swimming pool, ice arena, bowling alley, fitness centre and curling rink – all under one roof and within walking distance from the campus.  We are also home to Grand Bay West Beach - a beautiful, sandy beach that has a trailway winding along the coast and great for walking/running.

For those of you new to the area our weather can be entertaining.  The Fall temperatures are pretty mild, but by mid-November you know winter is on the way!  Bring warm, winter clothing with you.  It does snow here.  We guarantee that hats, gloves and winter boots and coats will be very much appreciated in February….perhaps even in November.  We get a lot of wind, and some rain, all year long and with no public transportation available, you will indeed want that protection provided by a warm coat and waterproof boots.

Words from your Host

Hi everyone! Welcome to College of the North Atlantic ā€“ Port aux Basques Campus (CNA-PAB).

My name is Samantha Allen and I am the Student development Officer at CNA-PAB. You will see me around the campus daily, and I am available to help you in any manner I can, whether you have any questions or concerns ā€“ or just to have a chat about what you would like to see happen at your college.

I am located at the main office, room 110b. You are more than welcome to stop by and see me or make an appointment that fits your schedule. I typically help students connect with any services they may need. This could be connecting you to community resources, accessibility services, counselling services, library resources, peer tutoring, student loans and so much more. Whatever you may need during your time here, I can gladly assist you!

While learning is at the upmost importance, we want you to enjoy your time here as well. This campus has a very active student council who is always open to new and dynamic ideas to enhance student engagement. I encourage you to get involved during your time with us and create some lasting memories. The learning that happens inside our doors occurs both in and outside the classrooms and shops.

Iā€™m looking forward to meeting everyone and I wish you all a great year.

Your host
