College of the North Atlantic Students’ Union (CNASU)
 
Each campus elects a local student council at the beginning of each academic year. The Local Council is part of the provincial CNASU and represents the student body at each campus.  The CNASU – Local Council is governed by a constitution and has responsibility for planning and organizing various extra-curricular activities on the students’ behalf.  Each Local Council has an advisor, usually a Student Services professional such as the Student Development Officer or Counsellor. 
 
The provincial CNASU is the student governing body that is comprised of a student representative (usually the President) from each campus of College of the North Atlantic.  The provincial CNASU represents all 18 Local Councils, and may include student representation for underrepresented student groups, such as international students, indigenous students, the LGBTQSI population, and Distributed Learning students who are attending College via distance education.  The provincial CNASU is also responsible for ensuring that there is student representation on certain College committees, including the College’s Board of Governors and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Council on Higher Education. 
 
Students are encouraged to become involved with their local and provincial Students’ Union and have a voice in the decisions that influence their educational experience at College of the North Atlantic.
