Andrew Hibbitts is a dedicated community leader who is passionately committed to heritage preservation, healthcare, social well-being, and education. Known for his warmth and dependability, Andrew prioritizes his community's needs, consistently giving generously of his time and effort to various causes. As chair of the Bay St. George Pride Committee, Andrew has been instrumental in supporting the 2SLGBTQ+ community, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment in the region.
In addition to his role with the Pride Committee, Andrew is actively involved with several organizations, including the Long Range Small Business Committee, Tourism Southwest, the Community Education Network, and the Our Lady of Mercy Complex Committee. As an Economic Development Officer with Horizon TNL, Newfoundland and Labrador's bilingual economic development organization, Andrew focuses on tourism, immigration, entrepreneurship, and employability, which all contribute to the province’s economic growth and cultural vibrancy.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources and a Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies from Cape Breton University. He also has diplomas in Business Administration Marketing and Human Resource Management from College of the North Atlantic, a certificate in Indigenous Studies from the University of Alberta, and a certificate in Economic Development from the University of Waterloo. Currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree through distance learning at Athabasca University, Andrew continues to expand his knowledge and expertise.
Andrew’s dedication to community service is evident through his extensive volunteer work and involvement with various non-profits across Western Newfoundland. His commitment to enhancing the social and economic fabric of his community makes him a deserving recipient of the Community Service Award.
