Salary Information

CG37 - $65,756.60 - $73,473.40 per annum

Duties and Responsibilities

The Business Development Officer (BDO) is a key member of the Customized and Continuous Learning (CCL) division, responsible for promoting educational opportunities, building partnerships with industry and community stakeholders, and supporting the development of programs and services that respond to workforce and community needs. The BDO will:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of special projects, ensuring objectives, timelines, budgets, and performance targets are achieved. 
  • Manage contract administration and support implementation of project deliverables in accordance with funding and operational requirements. 
  • Monitor budgets and prepare activity, progress, and financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Facilitate training initiatives and ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of assigned projects. 
  • Develop and deliver presentations and promote contract training services to prospective clients and partners. 
  • Coordinate participant recruitment, employer engagement, training delivery, staffing, procurement, and related project logistics. 
  • Support the development and marketing of College services responsive to labour market and community needs. 
  • Liaise with campuses and internal departments to support program acquisition, implementation, and delivery. 
  • Provide provincial business and contract development support related to the assigned project.
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry, community, government, and other stakeholders to support program and employment outcomes. 
  • Other related duties as required to support departmental initiatives and emerging priorities in alignment with the goals of the Customized and Continuous Learning department.

Screening Criteria

  • Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or related discipline (equivalencies will be considered).
  • Experience in business development, contract development, OR training coordination within a higher education or corporate environment.

Assessment Criteria

  • Knowledge of business development principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and presentation software.
  • Client focused and commitment to delivering exceptional service.
  • Ability to prioritize workload while meeting established deadlines.
  • Professionalism.
  • Ability to effectively exchange information.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision. 
  • Relationship building skills.
