Salary Information
Salary will be determined in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, based on the candidate's education and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support to faculty and students within the Forest Resources Technician program.
- Assist faculty in the planning, preparation, and delivery of instruction in classroom and laboratory settings.
- Demonstrate specific skills, tasks, experiments, and work practices to support student learning.
- Instruct and model proper procedures, methods, and protocols for the use of technical equipment.
- Work closely with students to model appropriate behaviours and promote a positive learning environment.
- Prepare and set up labs and equipment in advance of instructional activities.
- Support the development and implementation of digital data workflows for field-based data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Maintain and requisition materials, equipment, and supplies required for program delivery.
- Communicate effectively with students and foster an emotionally safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Perform other related duties in support of quality, student-centered instruction.
Screening Criteria
- Bachelor's of Forestry (B. Sc. F) or equivalent.
- Four years recent, relevant work experience in the field of forestry.
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledge of the forest resources industry including procedures and best practices.
- Knowledge of safety procedures in the forestry industry.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and engage students by using real-life examples to enhance understanding.
- Ability to foster and deliver a positive student learning experience.
- Professionalism.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs of students.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with other faculty and staff while taking direction well.
