Salary Information
CG27 - $47,301.80 - $52,306.80 per annum.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Payroll Clerk II provides comprehensive payroll services to College of the North Atlantic employees across all campuses:
- Processing of bi-weekly payroll, preparation of payroll-related reports, completion of statutory and other remittances, and responding to payroll inquiries by providing information and guidance on payroll-related matters.
- Consult with employees and managers to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies or adjustments, and prepare and issue Records of Employment and T4 slips, as required.
- Review payroll data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable legislation, collective agreements, College policies, and established payroll procedures.
- Maintain employee payroll information, including banking, tax, and deduction details, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
- Calculate and review payroll adjustments for leave without pay, partial pay periods, workers' compensation, and other non-standard payroll situations.
- Determine eligibility for Labrador Northern Allowance and travel benefits, ensuring entitlements are accurately calculated and entered into the payroll system.
- Handle Employment Insurance (EI) inquiries from Service Canada, providing required payroll documentation on time.
- Perform preliminary payroll calculations and audits to catch issues before final processing.
- Work with College divisions and external agencies to support payroll, resolve issues, and prepare monthly reconciliations.
- Handle clerical and administrative tasks for payroll, including filing, data entry, and record keeping.
- Perform other related duties as required to support the effective operation of the Payroll function.
Screening Criteria
- Diploma in Business Administration (equivalencies will be considered).
- Relevant experience in a payroll or payroll-related environment, with demonstrated involvement in payroll processing and support functions.

Conditions of Acceptance
Due to the nature of this role, it is not eligible for telework. The successful candidate will be required to work on campus on a daily basis; however, ad hoc arrangements may be considered where appropriate.
