Duties and Responsibilities
The College of the North Atlantic is seeking a Program Developer to lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of applied, sustainability-focused programs and training resources within the School of Sustainable Development. The position supports new and emerging sustainability programming, with a particular focus on courses and micro-credentials delivered through the College's Mobile Training Unit and other flexible delivery models.
Working collaboratively with faculty, industry partners, community organizations, and other academic schools, the Program Developer will ensure programming is outcomes-driven, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and responsive to evolving labour-market and industry needs. The role supports workforce transition, climate action, and sustainable economic development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, review, and continuous improvement of sustainability-focused programs, courses, and micro-credentials.
- Support curriculum delivered through mobile training units, modular formats, and community-based models.
- Coordinate curriculum development across schools to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with College standards.
- Develop learning outcomes, competencies, assessments, and instructional materials for flexible delivery.
- Collaborate with faculty, subject matter experts, industry, and community partners to ensure curriculum relevance.
- Conduct labour-market research and needs assessments to inform program development.
- Integrate sustainability principles and the UN Sustainable Development Goals into curriculum design.
- Apply inclusive and universal design principles to support diverse learner groups.
- Work with instructional designers to develop digital and applied learning resources.
- Support program implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure curriculum quality, accessibility, and alignment with standards and best practices.
- Participate in advisory and cross-school working groups.
- Support reporting requirements and perform other related duties as required.
Screening Criteria
- Bachelor of Education Degree combined with several years of relevant experience in teaching and/or curriculum development in a post-secondary college environment.
- A Master of Education (asset).
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledge of the principles of instructional design, curriculum development, adult learning and teaching methods, and continuous improvement processes.
- Knowledge of access and skills development programming for vulnerable or underrepresented learners, particularly those with literacy and numeracy issues.
- Proficiency with technology.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to exchange information effectively.
- Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with other faculty, industry and community partners.
- Commitment to supporting and delivering a positive student learning experience.
