Salary Information

CG37 - $65,756.60 - $73,473.40 per annum.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Learning and Development Specialist designs, delivers, and continuously improves training programs to strengthen the knowledge and skills of Employment Services staff. This role supports College of the North Atlantic's commitment to excellent client service by ensuring all team members are well-prepared to meet client needs effectively and consistently.

  • Learning needs assessment: conduct needs analyses with Employment Services Managers to identify learning requirements across teams. 
  • Program design and development: design and deliver training programs and materials that develop foundational and advanced skills in client service, employment planning, and case management.
  • Training delivery and facilitation: deliver engaging and practical training for new and existing staff, including onboarding, refresher courses, and specialized sessions on topics like labour market trends, case management systems, and client engagement strategies.
  • Coaching and mentorship: provide coaching and guidance to support staff development, reinforce learning, and enhance performance. 
  • Resource development: research and organize resources for employment services, case management, and client support. Create and maintain up-to-date reference guides, training materials, e-learning modules, and toolkits.
  • Collaboration and partnership: collaborate with Employment Services Managers and stakeholders to plan and implement learning initiatives that support operational priorities. 
  • Program evaluation and continuous improvement: assess the effectiveness of learning programs using feedback, evaluations, and performance data, and recommend improvements.
  • Onboarding and orientation: lead the design and delivery of orientation programs that help new staff smoothly transition into their roles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are related to the role.

     

Screening Criteria

  • Degree in Social Sciences, Business, or related field (equivalencies will be considered).
  • Career Professional/Practitioner Certification (asset).
  • Experience in employment and career counselling.
  • Experience in facilitating/delivering training.

Assessment Criteria

  • Knowledge of career consulting practices and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of training development and design.
  • Knowledge of labour market trends.
  • Ability to design training sessions.
  • Case management skills.
  • Ability to exchange information effectively.
  • Professionalism.
  • Relationship building skills.

Conditions of Offer

  • When requested by the Employer, a recent and satisfactory Certificate of Conduct must be provided.

Conditions of Acceptance

  • The successful candidate will be required to work on-site at our Grand Falls-Windsor office, as remote work is not available at this time.
