Salary Information
Salary will be determined in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement based on the candidate's education and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to faculty in the planning, preparation, and delivery of instruction to students for various technical programs, including Heavy Duty Equipment Technician/Truck Transport Mechanic, Mobile Crane Operator, Heavy Equipment Operator, Automotive Service Technician, and Power Sport Technician.
- Prepare and maintain the classroom and shop environment to effectively deliver program-specific content.
- Set up appropriate equipment to support instructional objectives for each program within a shared shop environment including but not limited to driving heavy-duty equipment and using various assistive devices (e.g., jacks, forklifts) to move and position equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with instructors to enhance the delivery of technical training and learning outcomes, including the use of simulators for instruction.
- Set a professional example and communicating effectively at a level appropriate to the ability of students and providing an emotionally safe learning environment that is conducive to learning.
- Other related duties consistent with providing and maintaining quality student-centered instruction will be required.
Screening Criteria
- Completion of Journeyperson Certification in one of Automotive Service Technician, Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Heavy Equipment Operator, Truck Transport Mechanic, Mobile Crane Technician, or Power Sports Service Technician.
- Recent, relevant, trade specific industry experience.
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledge of Heavy-Duty Equipment, Heavy Equipment Operator, Automotive Service, Commercial Driving, Mobile Crane, Truck Transport or Power Sport industries.
- Knowledge of classroom management and instructional techniques currently being utilized in a teaching and learning environment.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs of students.
- Organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and efficiently meet deadlines.
- Ability to exchange information effectively.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with other faculty and staff while taking direction well.
- Commitment to supporting and delivering a positive student learning experience.
- Professionalism.
