The Employment Consultant is responsible for providing comprehensive employment consulting and counselling services to support individuals with diverse employment needs. Using a client-centered, case management approach, the Employment Consultant will:
- Conduct client assessments and develop action plans: assess client needs, explore career goals, identify employment barriers, and create action plans to support long-term employment success.
- Provide individual and group counselling: support clients through one-on-one and group sessions to build confidence, workplace readiness, and other essential employment skills.
- Address barriers to employment: support clients in overcoming challenges by connecting them with resources, training, and other supports to help them achieve employment success.
- Facilitate career development workshops: deliver workshops on job search strategies, resume and interview preparation, labour market trends, and career exploration.
- Connect clients with resources: provide up-to-date information on programs, training, and community supports, and refer clients to appropriate services.
- Build partnerships and networks: work with government, community organizations, employers, and training providers to support clients and create employment opportunities.
- Support the resource centre: assist clients in accessing labour market information, career planning tools, and job search resources.
- Maintain documentation and case files: keep accurate records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes, and prepare reports as required.
- Other related duties: perform additional tasks as required to support employment consulting services.
Screening Criteria
- A Degree in Social Sciences, or related field (equivalencies will be considered).
- Experience assisting individuals facing multiple challenges in achieving employment goals.
- Experience delivering career and employment services (asset).
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledge of programs and services designed to assist individuals with complex barriers to employment.
- Knowledge of career and employment planning (asset).
- Case management skills.
- Ability to facilitate individual and group-based sessions.
- Ability to manage time and tasks effectively to achieve program outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients facing complex barriers.
- Professionalism.
- Relationship building skills.
