CG37 - $65,756.60 - $73,473.40 per annum

Duties and Responsibilities

The Librarian II is responsible for the administration of the library/resource centre and providing professional library services in all areas of librarianship to College of the North Atlantic's Hapy Valley-Goose Bay Campus:

  • Support students and staff by responding to inquiries, explaining how to use library resources and databases, and helping them locate reliable information.
  • Organize and catalog books and resources by applying established classification systems and arrange materials to make them easy to locate and access for users.
  • Manage circulation activities such as processing loans and returns of library materials.
  • Manage the library collection by selecting, acquiring, and updating materials to meet users' needs.
  • Supervise technical operations and coordinate library programs.
  • Develop library policies and user guides to support effective use of resources and lead efforts to improve library services and operations.
  • Market and promote library services and events to increase awareness and engagement.
  • Oversee and manage the library's budget and financial resources.
  • Delegate tasks and coordinate work among library staff.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support the efficient operation of the library.

     

Screening Criteria

  • Master's Degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science.
  • Experience working in a similar library-related role.

     

Assessment Criteria

  • Knowledge of library operations management.
  • Knowledge of integrated library systems and computer applications.
  • Ability to assist a diverse clientele.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Ability to exchange information effectively. 
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

  • Problem-solving/analytical skills. 
  • Relationship building skills.
