Salary Information
Salary will be determined in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, based on the candidate's education and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The role of the Instructional Assistant will be to provide support to students and faculty within the Medical Laboratory Technology program.
- Provide assistance to faculty in the planning, preparation, and delivery of instruction to students.
- Demonstrating specific skills, tasks, experiments, and/or work practices in a classroom and/or laboratory environment.
- Working closely with students to model appropriate behaviours.
- Assisting faculty with the set-up of labs in advance of class.
- Maintain and requisition materials and supplies.
- Setting a professional example and communicating effectively at a level appropriate to the ability of students and providing an emotionally safe learning environment that is conducive to learning.
- Other related duties consistent with providing and maintaining quality student-centered instruction will be required.
Screening Criteria
- Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)-(General)
- Three years recent relevant work experience.
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledgeable in the subject area of Medical Laboratory Technology including key concepts and best practices.

- Credentials obtained outside of Canada will require an evaluation to determine their Canadian educational equivalency. This evaluation must support the educational requirements for the position.
Must be eligible for, and have, a current membership in the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS). Current active License with Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP).
