Salary Information
CG25 - $44,153.20 - $48,612.20 per annum.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to students with documented learning supports enrolled in academic programs at College of the North Atlantic’s Happy Valley-Goose Bay campus; and help students adjust to the post-secondary environment and support their academic success through individualized support strategies tailored to their documented needs.
- Support the implementation and delivery of academic accommodations as determined by Disability Services; and ensure timely access to supports while promoting student independence and engagement.
- Support students in the use and application of assistive technologies; and help students become confident and proficient in using these tools to enhance their learning experience and academic participation.
- Provide assistance in the administration of exams, including invigilation duties, ensuring accommodation measures are followed; and resolve any logistical issues that may arise before or during exams.
- Assist students in understanding course content and navigating academic expectations; and help students develop effective study skills all in alignment with their approved accommodations.
- Monitor student progress by maintaining accurate records of support sessions to ensure that support strategies remain effective and responsive to the evolving needs of students.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in handling sensitive student information, safeguarding all personal, academic, and medical information.
- Perform other related duties as required to support student success and accessibility.
Screening Criteria
- Diploma in Community Studies or a Certificate in Adult Education (Equivalencies will be considered).
- Recent, relevant work experience supporting individuals with a range of disabilities.
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledge of learning supports and disability-related needs of individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge of assistive technologies (asset).
- Ability to assist students requiring accommodations and support.
- Ability to exchange information effectively.
- Problem solving skills.
- Organizational skills to effectively maintain accurate records related to student supports and services.

- Establish and maintain positive, supportive working relationships with students.
