Salary Information

Salary will be determined in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, based on the candidate's education and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating the provision of academic accommodations and other accessibility related services to students and applicants.
  • Implements the recommendations of a variety of assessments associated with accessibility supports including psycho-educational, neurological, visual, mental health, hearing, etc.
  • Consults with internal and external stakeholders in relation to accessibility services to ensure the needs of students are met.
  • Other duties include responding to inquiries regarding the College’s accessibility services, providing orientation to students, providing support, advice, career and employment counseling assistance to students, partnering with other community agencies to ensure the needs of students are met and developing and promoting accessibility awareness within the College community.
  • The position duties also include collecting and reviewing assessment documents to determine eligibility for accessibility services. 

Screening Criteria

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Education (Secondary/Post-Secondary) Degree with emphasis in Special Education/Disabilities.
  • Relevant work experience.
  • Significant specialized experience in psychology, vocational rehabilitation, or other related fields will be considered assets.

  • Knowledge of student accommodation plans.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Ability to be responsive to individual student needs.
  • Commitment to student success strategies and initiatives.
  • Ability to work as part of collaborative team while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a teaching environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Conditions of Offer

  • When requested by the Employer, a recent and satisfactory Certificate of Conduct must be provided.
  • Verification of credentials and applicable licenses, certifications, and/or professional memberships as required for the position.
    • Credentials obtained outside of Canada will require an evaluation to determine their Canadian educational equivalency. This evaluation must support the educational requirements for the position.
