Salary Information

Salary will be determined in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, based on the candidate’s education and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Specialized delivery to an external client in the mining sector.
• Responsible for preparation, learning outcomes, teaching materials, and assessments for the customized program.
• Prepare and implement various instructional strategies, techniques, and learning models to achieve specified learning outcomes and meet course objectives.
• Assess student progress and develop evaluation methods.
• Support an emotionally safe learning environment that is conducive to learning by maintaining appropriate classroom discipline following College policies and procedures.
• Specific areas of instruction include Distributed Control Systems, Industrial Process Automation, Process Instruments, and Programmable Logic Controllers.
• Contribute to professional and community life within the College and beyond.

Screening Criteria

• Diploma in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering Technology OR equivalent Diploma, supplemented with a Bachelor of Technology OR a Bachelor of Engineering Technology with concentration in the subject area (equivalencies will be considered).
• Four (4) years of recent, relevant industry experience.

Assessment Criteria

• Knowledge of the Instrumentation and Controls Engineering. Technology field.
• Knowledge of teaching and learning methodologies.
• Knowledge of classroom management.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students and Faculty.
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Problem-solving skills with the ability to consider and respond appropriately to student needs.
• Commitment to student success strategies.

• Verification of credentials and applicable licenses, certifications, and/or professional memberships as required for the position.
  • Credentials obtained outside of Canada will require an evaluation to determine their Canadian educational equivalency. This evaluation must support the educational requirements for the position.

Conditions of Acceptance

• Acknowledges the requirement for participating in ongoing training and professional development, including the completion of courses required for Post-Secondary Instructor Certification as specified for instructors.
• Acknowledges the requirement for maintaining applicable licenses, certifications, and/or professional memberships as required for the position.
• Acknowledges that courses may be assigned outside the instructor’s regular area of instruction based on their qualifications.
