Salary Information

Salary will be determined in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, based on the candidate's education and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on training and supervision to practical nursing students in Long-Term Care, ensuring they understand and apply previously learned concepts and practices.
  • Deliver course content by following established curriculum and adapting lessons to meet students’ learning needs.
  • Foster a positive learning environment by actively engaging students in discussions and practical activities.
  • Evaluate student performance and proficiency in various hands-on clinical skills through assessments, observations, and feedback, ensuring the meet clinical competency standards.
  • Offer constructive feedback and mentorship to students, helping them identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Encourage and demonstrate competent and safe work practices in a clinical environment, ensuring that all clinical practices adhere to safety regulations and ethical standards in healthcare.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and clinical evaluations, complying with organizational policies.
  • Work closely with other PN faculty members, healthcare professionals, and nursing staff from Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NLHS) to coordinate clinical experiences and ensure a consistent approach to clinical education.
  • Stay updated on the latest nursing practices, methodologies, and regulatory standards to enhance clinical teaching effectiveness.
  • Actively provide support to students, addressing any concerns related to their clinical education.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Screening Criteria

  • Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Nursing (BN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) Degree.
  • Five years recent relevant work experience in nursing.
    • OR
  • Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Five years recent, relevant work experience (Note: two of the five years of experience must be in Long-Term Care).
    • OR
  • Registered Nurse (Diploma-prepared).
  • Five years recent, relevant work experience (Note: two of the five years of experience must be in Long-Term care).

Assessment Criteria

  • Knowledge of clinical teaching methods.

Conditions of Offer

  • When requested by the Employer, a recent and satisfactory Certificate of Conduct must be provided.
  • Verification of credentials and applicable licenses, certifications, and/or professional memberships as required for the position.
    • Credentials obtained outside of Canada will require an evaluation to determine their Canadian educational equivalency. This evaluation must support the educational requirements for the position.
  • Must be eligible for, and have, an active practicing license with the College of Registered Nurses Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) or an active licensure with College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL); prior to commencing employment.

  • Acknowledges the requirement for maintaining applicable licenses, certifications, and/or professional memberships as required for the position.
  • Acknowledges the requirement for access to private transportation to report to assigned clinical site.
  • Willing to accept shiftwork.
  • Willing to accept flexible start/end times for workday.
