Salary Information

Salary will be determined in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, based on the candidate's education and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support to faculty and students within the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Mechanical and Avionics) Repair programs.
  • Assist instructors while students are in the shop area, ensuring a structured and safe learning environment.
  • Prepare the shop and equipment for training sessions as requested by the instructor.
  • Support instructors in assessing students’ practical tasks and hands-on projects.
  • Promote safety, industry best practices, and good work habits among students.
  • Maintain aircraft and shop equipment in a serviceable condition for training use.
  • Assist in designing and fabricating training aids and shop equipment.
  • Collaborate with instructors to improve technical training and learning outcomes, incorporating simulators and other tools into instruction.
  • Model professionalism and communicate effectively with students, ensuring an emotionally safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Perform other related duties to support the maintenance of quality, student-centered instruction.

Screening Criteria

  • Diploma in Electronics/Avionics with a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s license, Category "E”, with extensive training in aircraft electronics and electrical systems combined with five years recent, relevant work experience, PLUS specific aircraft “type” training may be required, OR Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering with a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s license, Category “M1/M2” and evidence of prior certification privileges for Avionics, with five years recent, relevant work experience, PLUS specific aircraft “type” training may be required.

 

Assessment Criteria

  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, troubleshooting and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices in the aircraft maintenance industry.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs of students.
  • Organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and efficiently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and engage students by using real-life examples to enhance understanding.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with other faculty and staff while taking direction well.
  • Ability to foster and deliver a positive student learning experience.
  • Professionalism.
