Salary Information
HL24 - $84,873.00 - $110,335.26 per annum.
Duties and Responsibilities
- As a member of the School management team, actively engages in and contributes to the annual budget and business planning processes, ensuring academic planning and program development needs are reflected in operational, facility, and administrative planning efforts.
- Plays a key role in program planning, development, and resource allocation, advising the Dean on emerging program opportunities, potential risks, and the need for capital equipment and related resources.
- Acts as the official point of contact responsible for ensuring adherence to and enhancement of program quality and accreditation standards, including maintaining compliance with faculty qualifications for teaching assignments.
- Ensures high-quality instruction, adherence to accreditation standards, and identifies professional development opportunities.
- Provides program-related guidance and support to campus faculty and instructional staff, fostering a culture of academic excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation in program delivery.
- Encourages the identification, evaluation, and adoption of superior program delivery models, promoting a "One College" approach to consistent program delivery while respecting the unique characteristics of each campus setting.
- Actively participates in College-wide initiatives aimed at promoting consistent program delivery and academic standards across the College system.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with academic stakeholders and partners at the provincial level, both public and private, particularly concerning student placements, work terms, and internships.
Screening Criteria
- Undergraduate degree in Sustainable Development, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, or a related area.
- Recent relevant work experience in the field of Sustainable Development.
- Master’s Degree in Post-Secondary Education, Educational Leadership, or related Sustainable Development field. (asset).
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Assessment Criteria
- Understanding of program planning & review, accreditation, development, and delivery.
- Understanding of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their applicability to the College of the North Atlantic.
- Ability to understand and apply sustainability tracking and rating systems, such as STARS (Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System) or equivalents.
- Knowledge of pedagogical principles and educational technology advancements relative to the School of Sustainable Development.
- Ability to clearly communicate information, ideas, and feedback.
- Ability to guide, motivate, and inspire teams or individuals toward achieving common goals.
- Organizational skills, with an ability to muti-task & prioritize.
- Ability to analyze and apply complex documentation to ensure program quality, meeting curriculum, industry, government, accreditation, and certification standards.
- Interpersonal skills to provide the necessary level of support and foster a cooperative working environment.
- Ability to cultivate strong partnerships with a variety of stakeholders including academic, business, industry, and alumni partners.
- Collaborative decision-making skills with a focus on academic excellence and developing student-centered programming.
