Salary Information

CG33 - $55,965.00 - $62,262.20 per annum.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Student Development Officer (Co-operative Education Coordinator) is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the work-term placement component of various College of the North Atlantic (CNA) programs for students and ensuring they fulfil program graduation requirements.
  • Oversees the cooperative education process which includes student readiness for placement, matching students with employers, monitoring student progress, and ensuring reflective learning has occurred as part of the evaluation process.
  • The development and delivery of information sessions on relevant topics including learning objectives, workplace professionalism, labour market trends, job search, resume writing, and interview skills; marketing programs and students to prospective employers; liaising with faculty mentors to ensure a meaningful experience and work-term related issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Assisting with the coordination and participation in career fairs, conferences, and trade shows that provide marketing and networking opportunities.
  • Providing advice and guidance on the co-operative education process and requirements, student aid, and various other related student services policies and regulations; and taking an active role in policy and procedure development.

Screening Criteria

  • Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Social Sciences or related field (equivalencies will be considered).
  • Experience in career development.
  • Experience in a post-secondary environment (asset).

  • Knowledge of current labour market trends.
  • Knowledge of marketing practices.
  • Communication skills (including presentation/facilitation).

Conditions of Offer

  • When requested by the Employer, a recent and satisfactory Certificate of Conduct must be provided.
  • Verification of credentials and applicable licenses, certifications, and/or professional memberships as required for the position.
  • Required travel within the region on a regular basis as well as the use of a personal vehicle.
