Salary Information

CG27 - $46,373.60 - $51,287.60 per annum.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide array of payroll services to College of the North Atlantic employees provincially including processing bi-weekly payroll, preparing reports for various stakeholders, preparing remittances, and responding to inquiries/providing advice on payroll matters.
  • Consulting with employees and/or managers concerning errors or adjustments in relation to payroll assisting with the preparation of T4 slips and Records of Employment when required.
  • Reviewing payroll to ensure appropriate calculations and entries are completed.
  • Verifying employee banking information, taxation information, and all statutory and general deduction information.
  • Verifying calculations of payroll adjustments for leave without pay, partial pay weeks, education leave, and worker’s compensation entries.
  • Verifying Labrador Northern Allowance and confirming Labrador travel benefit entitlement is calculated and entered correctly.
  • Conducting E.I. investigations from Service Canada.
  • Running preliminary pay calculations.
  • Liaising with other college divisions (i.e. Compensation and Benefits and Finance) and outside agencies preparing monthly reconciliations.
  • Performing general clerical responsibilities related to payroll functions.
  • Other related duties as required.

Screening Criteria

  • Diploma in Business Administration (equivalencies will be considered).
  • Relevant experience in a payroll environment.

Assessment Criteria

  • Knowledge of payroll administration procedures and best practices.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft (asset).
  • Proficiency with computerized software systems.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to exchange information effectively.
