CG29 - $49,267.40 - $54,727.40 per annum

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Early Childhood Education Supervisor assumes responsibility for program planning, working effectively with staff, working with families and children.
  • Connecting with the community.
  • Administrative responsibilities related to the day-to-day operation of the College of the North Atlantic’s Child Care Centre at the Prince Philip Drive Campus.
  • As the demonstration centre for CNA students studying Early Childhood Education, the Early Childhood Education Supervisor is also involved in mentoring students during field practice and lab components of relevant courses.
  • This position may be assigned other related duties as it pertains to the role of the Early Childhood Education Supervisor.

Screening Criteria

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education + Level II Certification from the Association of Early Childhood Educators of NL (AECENL)
  • At least three years of experience working in a licensed childcare setting

  • Knowledge of early childhood education practices and principles, programming, and legislation
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Effective Communication Skills.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to build trusting and position relationships with families and students.
  • Ability to work as a member of a childcare team.

Conditions of Offer

  • A clear certified criminal records check (issued by RCMP) or clear criminal records screening certificate (issued by RNC) to include all jurisdictions in which the applicant has lived in the past 10 years.
  • Clear vulnerable sector records check (issued by RCMP/RNC) to include all jurisdictions in which the applicant has lived in the past 10 years.
  • Two day standard first aid.
  • Current and up-to-date record of immunizations.

Conditions of Acceptance

  • Willing to accept a physically demanding position.
  • Acknowledges the requirement for lifting and moving children weighing up to 50 lbs, as well as sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent basis.
  • Acknowledges the requirement for regularly working in an awkward or cramped position, requiring bending and kneeling.
  • Acknowledges the requirement to be high alert, with visual and auditory skills to ensure the well being of all children, including those with special needs, in a fast-paced environment.
