Salary Information
CG25 - $43,279.60 - $47,665.80 per annum.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and serve meals for the cafeteria, student residence, and other special functions.
- Use a variety of cooking equipment.
- Prepare and store food in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment.
- Meet with the supervisor to plan cafeteria specials.
- Maintain inventory.
- This position may require lifting and moving large objects including bulk food and kitchen equipment; standing for long periods throughout a typical shift; and the use of a variety of kitchen equipment requiring controlled movements.
- Other duties related to the efficient operation of a commercial kitchen may be necessary.
Screening Criteria
- One year Certificate in Commercial Cooking, or related (equivalencies may be considered).
- Relevant industry experience in food preparation and service.
Assessment Criteria
- Knowledge of the culinary arts industry including food preparation, service, safety and sanitization in a commercial kitchen.
- Effective organizational/time management skills.
- Ability to work well as a member of a food service team.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Establish professional working relationships with staff and students.
- Communication skills.
