Salary Information

Salary will be determined in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, based on the candidate's education and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Instruct students, facilitate learning, and evaluate student progress by planning, organizing, and managing learning activities and resources in both the classroom and laboratory environment. 
• Incorporate own teaching style to existing lesson plans by preparing and implementing various instructional strategies, techniques, and learning models to achieve specified learning outcomes and meet course objectives.
• Establish student performance objectives and evaluation methods and meet with students regularly to gauge and evaluate progress and identify and resolve problem areas in teaching and learning.
• Communicate effectively at a level appropriate to the ability of students and support an emotionally safe learning environment that is conducive to learning by maintaining appropriate classroom discipline following College policies and procedures.
• Actively participate in and contribute to accreditation activities to ensure the program is of the highest standard. 
• Contribute to professional and community life within the College and beyond, as well as perform other related duties that contribute to a quality learner-centered environment.

Screening Criteria

• Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental), or a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil – Environmental Concentration), or a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, combined with at least two years of recent, relevant work experience.
• OR a Diploma in Environmental Engineering Technology combined with a Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of Engineering Technology (with specialization in area of instruction), combined with at least four years of recent, relevant work experience.
   

Assessment Criteria

• Knowledge of the Environmental Engineering Technology field.
• Knowledge of teaching and learning methodologies.
• Knowledge of classroom management.
• Commitment to student success strategies.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Problem-solving skills with the ability to consider and respond appropriately to student needs.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with students and Faculty.

Conditions of Offer

• When requested by the Employer, a recent and satisfactory Certificate of Conduct must be provided.
• Verification of credentials and applicable licenses, certifications, and/or professional memberships as required for the position.
  • Credentials obtained outside of Canada will require an evaluation to determine their Canadian educational equivalency. This evaluation must support the educational requirements for the position.

• Acknowledges that courses may be assigned outside the instructor’s regular area of instruction based on their qualifications.
