Thanks to a new articulation agreement, graduates of College of the North Atlantic's three-year business management program will be able to complete a bachelor of business administration in 12 months at Grenfell Campus.
 
Memorial University's senate recently approved the transfer agreement, known as a "3+1" articulation agreement.
 
"This agreement reiterates the importance of partnerships between post-secondary institutions in Newfoundland and Labrador," said Dr. Mary Bluechardt. "We work closely with College of the North Atlantic to serve the post-secondary education population of the province. That relationship is now further solidified in this new articulation agreement that will reach out globally to CNA's international business students."

"As lifelong learners our students are seeking options that allow them to continue with their education and ladder their diploma program to degree.  We are delighted that our three-year business students will now have an opportunity in this province to do that with our partners at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University," said CNA President and CEO, Ann Marie Vaughan. "We are seeing more and more Memorial University students come to CNA to take advantage of our applied, technical programs, it is great that CNA students have a new opportunity with Memorial University to transition from diploma to degree. Our Grenfell colleagues in the business program have been great partners in this process that will have tremendous benefit for our students."
 
The agreement builds on the successful 2+2 arrangement between Grenfell and CNA for its two-year business programs; in September 2013, Grenfell began accepting graduates from CNA's two-year business programs directly into its bachelor of business administration (BBA). In an additional two years of study, these students can complete curriculum requirements that qualify them for a BBA.
 
"There has been significant enrollment of students under the 2+2 agreement," said Dr. Jacqueline Walsh, chair of Grenfell's business program. "Thus far, the experience has been positive for both students and faculty. It was a natural progression to move toward an additional 3+1 agreement."
 
The resulting program, devised by the business faculty at Grenfell, is a 15-course program that will qualify eligible CNA graduates for an undergraduate degree in business administration either full time over a 12-month period, or part time over an extended period. Currently the three-year program is offered at CNA's Prince Philip Drive and Grand Falls-Windsor campuses, as well as College of the North Atlantic-Qatar and through partnering institutions in China.
