Course Descriptions:

Ultrasonic Testing Level I (UT I)  (40-hours)
Pre-requisites : Materials and Processes, Mathematics
Ultrasonic Testing Level I (UT I) is part of the Non-Destructive Testing Program at College of the North Atlantic. Each individual is provided with an Ultrasonic testing unit and will learn the properties of ultrasonic wave testing methods and applications. Individuals will learn to calibrate, inspect welds, and interpret results.

Ultrasonic Testing Level II (UT II)  (80-hours)
Pre-requisites : Materials and Processes, Mathematics, UT I
Ultrasonic Testing Level II (UT II) provides training for a Level II Industrial Ultrasonic’s NDT Technician Certification. Ultrasonics trains learners to use high frequency sound energy to conduct examinations and make measurements in materials to determine flaws in the structure.

Radiation Safety and Certified Exposure Device Operator Training (40-hours)
Pre-requisites : Mathematics
This training on radiation safety is for those using industrial x- and gamma radiation equipment. This course provides a basic understanding of radiation principles, safe working practices and regulations pertaining to the use of ionizing radiation. This course meets the training requirements of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission for those seeking their Certified Exposure Device Operator's (CEDO) certification. (PCP-09).

Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI)  (40-hours)
Pre-requisite: Materials and Processes
Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI) focuses on methods to test the integrity of welds, forgings and castings using visible and fluorescent dyes to locate surface breaking discontinuities . The course offers practical and theory components and ensures individuals have an opportunity to familiarize with testing equipment and the theory of LPI.

Magnetic Particle Inspection Level II (MPI) (40-hours)
Pre-requisite: Materials and Processes
Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) introduces Magnetic Particle Inspection methods which enable technicians to locate and identify surface and near surface defects. Course time is divided between theory and practical with a major focus on the practical portion. Students are provided with ample opportunity to familiarize with equipment used to detect defects and the theory involved.
