  3. HOW LONG IS THE CANADIAN RESTRICTED FIREARMS SAFETY COURSE (CRFSC)?
    • Theory: 7 hours + written multiple choice exam
    • Practical exams are scheduled individually, following theory and written exam
  4. HOW LONG IS THE HUNTER EDUCATION COURSE?
    • 6.5 Hours + written multiple choice exam
  5. HOW LONG IS THE CANADIAN RESTRICTED FIREARMS SAFETY COURSE (CRFSC)?
    • Theory: 6.5 hours + written multiple choice exam
    • Practical exams are scheduled individually, following theory and written exam
  6. DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE A TEST?
    • Written test: There will be a written test for the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC), Hunter Education and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC), all based on the text material and class discussion. Pass mark is 80% for each test.
    • Practical test: The Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) both have a practical exam, scheduled individually following the written test.  
    • Challenge test: There are NO challenge tests for the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC), Hunter Education or Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC).
  7. DO I NEED TO TAKE BOTH COURSES?
    • Individuals that have already completed a recognized provincial Hunter Education course will only need to take the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) portion in order to obtain a federal Possession and Acquisition License (PAL).
    • Individuals who have completed the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) will need to take the Hunter Education portion to obtain an Outdoor Identification Card to hunt.
    • It is your responsibility to inform College staff what training you require so that the appropriate fees are collected. Proof of prior completions is required.
