NC1370   Powerline Hazards

Course Overview:

Those involved in the high-risk area of working near power lines can prevent serious injury or death if they take the necessary precautions required to ensure their safety. Section 483 of the Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Regulations states that "a person shall not operate a mobile crane, boom truck or similar equipment without having first completed a safety training program".

This course covers basic knowledge about electricity, electrical hazards, and safety measures when working in proximity to transition lines above and underground. It teaches participants what to do when equipment becomes charged with an electrical current and reviews all appropriate legislative requirements.

This course will increase participants' awareness of the dangers with working near power lines and enhance their ability to prevent injury and accidents in the workplace. The course meets the Power Line Hazards Certification Training Standard for Workplace NL. (4 Hours)
