Provincial student council elects executive at CNA

College of the North Atlantic’s Council of Student Executives (CSE) held their fall organizational meeting in Stephenville on October 16. The CSE includes the student council presidents from each of the college’s 17 campuses across the province. College of the North Atlantic’s (CNA’s) Council of Student Executives (CSE) elected its executive committee for 2010/11 at a meeting in Stephenville on October 16.

Edwin Knight, an Office Administration student at the Bonavista campus was chosen as President, while Sara Ivany (Community Studies, Bonavista campus) will serve as Vice President. Kelly Cadwell (Welder, Labrador West campus) was chosen as Secretary and the Treasurer’s position will be filled by John Byrne (Instrumentation and Control Technician, Burin campus).

“I’m looking forward to getting to know these students and sharing in their enthusiasm for the new school year,” said Shirley Woodward, CNA’s Manager of Student Recruitment and Enrolment. “I’d like to thank them for taking on this leadership role, and I look forward to working with them to enrich student life across all of our campuses.”

The organizational meeting was an opportunity for the members to get to know each other and share some of the ideas and suggestions that have been identified by student councils at their respective campuses.

The Council of Student Executives is composed of the presidents of the student councils at all 17 of CNA’s campuses across Newfoundland and Labrador.

The group will meet again by videoconference later this fall, and another face-to-face meeting is scheduled for January in St. John’s.
