College of the North Atlantic (CNA) is pleased to announce the Corner Brook campus’ Fisher Children’s Centre (FCC) is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The centre will celebrate this special occasion in the atrium of the campus at 7 pm on December 2, 2009. The centre currently has three staff members, Roxanne Billard, Carla Adams and Ruth Luther, who have been with the centre from the very beginning. The three staff members and a committee from the college are organizing events for the anniversary celebrations.

“So far we have sent out invitations to past and present students, faculty and some people that were crucial in the beginning of the creation of the Fisher Children’s Centre,” said Roxanne Billard. She has been an Early Childhood Educator at the centre since 1991.

CNA takes great pride in the Fisher Children’s Centre. For 20 years the centre has offered day care services for students, staff and the public. The centre also plays a major role in the Early Childhood Education program, enabling students to get a hands-on learning experience.

The 20th anniversary celebrations will include key speakers from the centre, a photo display of past and present students and children, and a tour of the facilities.

“The FCC has recently added an infant room and a toddler room. We will now be servicing families from birth until the age of six so we feel it is a great time to unveil our new rooms to the public. We feel it is a great achievement to be in operation for 20 years and it is well worth celebrating,” said Billard.

If you have ever attended the Fisher Children’s Centre and would like to attend this event, please RSVP to Pauline Hutchinson at 637-8517.
