St. John’s - Eun-Jae You, a business administration student at College of the North Atlantic’s Grand Falls-Windsor campus, was named one of four $1,000 scholarship winners during the kick-off for Oil and Gas Week held in St. John’s on Monday, February 23.
Eun-Jae You was unable to attend the Oil and Gas Week kick-off as she was writing exams; however, Corinne Dunne, the college’s Vice-President of Development/College Advancement, accepted on her behalf.
This is the first year the Oil and Gas Week committee has awarded scholarships as part of the event.
The scholarships are awarded to full-time, second-year students who are residents of rural Newfoundland and Labrador, and enrolled in programs that have a connection to the oil and gas sector. They are based on academic merit. One scholarship is available for students attending College of the North Atlantic programs, one is for students attending the Marine Institute, and two are for students enrolled in a Memorial University program.
Qualifying programs at College of the North Atlantic include: Business Administration (Accounting, General or Human Resources), Business Management (Accounting or Human Resources), Geomatics Engineering Technology (co-op), Industrial Engineering Technology (co-op), Petroleum Engineering Technology (co-op), Electronics Engineering Technology (Instrumentation), and Welder/Metal Fabrication.
