Doha, Qatar – Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani made her inaugural visit to College of the North Atlantic-Qatar (CNA-Q) on October 28, 2008. The newly appointed Chair of CNA-Q’s Joint Oversight Board (JOB) was welcomed by college executive including Dr. Latifa Al-Houty, Vice-Chair of Executive Committee, and Dr. Harold Jorch, President CNA-Q.

After a private reception with JOB Board Members, Dr. Mohammed Fathy Saoud, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Jassim Al Thani and Dr. Mutlaq Al-Qahtani, HE Sheikha Hind was able to tour the extensive facilities and meet with deans and instructors in areas including Health Sciences, Engineering, Industrial Trades Technician Preparatory Program and Security Training.

“College of North Atlantic-Qatar represents one major contributor to Qatar''s ongoing educational development. CNA-Q graduates will be equipped with the latest skills that qualify them to play a vital role in the most critical areas of our society. To be given an opportunity to be involved in such an institution that produces graduates--graduates who will build the backbone of our country--is indeed an honor and a privilege,” stated HE Sheikha Hind.

During the tour HE Sheikha Hind was especially impressed with the education and skills that Qatari students are receiving in the Industrial Trades Technician Preparatory Program, which is offered in partnership with Qatar Petroleum. In addition to the student population, CNA-Q is proud to have several Qataris on staff, including those in the rapidly growing Security Academy, which trains employees for the Ministry of Interior and several other organizations.

As Chair of the Joint Oversight Board, HE Sheikha Hind will be involved in decisions affecting the future development and strategic direction of CNA-Q. The Joint Oversight Board was established in 2001 and is comprised of members from the State of Qatar, CNA-Q and College of the North Atlantic in Canada and oversees the operation of the college.
