CNA to host College Day activities
10/25/2007 3:33:54 PM
College Day is an invitation for YOU. On Nov. 1 College of the North Atlantic campuses throughout the province will hold campus tours, program demonstrations, presentations and displays of the programs and services offered at each site.
College of the North Atlantic will host its fourth annual College Day on Nov. 1.
This daytime event will showcase the programs and services offered at CNA campuses throughout the province.
“All college campuses are participating but each campus may be doing something a little bit different,” says Shirley Woodward, manager of student recruitment and enrollment services, so those interested in attending should call the campus for details.
While there will be a number of activities taking place, College Day will mainly consist of campus tours, program demonstrations, presentations, displays, prize giveaways and refreshments, all of which is free to participants.
“There will also be opportunities to talk to faculty and staff at the college,” continues Woodward. “It will give people the chance to talk about the programs and services available at our campuses and for potential students to see what our campuses are like.”
Woodward says in previous years this event has attracted in excess of 3,000 high school students.
“The target audience will be high school students; however, parents and the general public are more than welcome to attend. Last year, over 3,000 high school students participated in College Day activities province-wide and feedback was extremely positive. This year we’re hoping to match or exceed that amount. In the last number of years we’ve seen an increase in the number of participants and we’ve seen momentum building around the event.”
She attributes the increase in participation to College Day being an annual event.
“We have schools contacting us now. It seems that because people are aware of the event taking place each year, they’re putting it in their schedules and are looking forward to it.”
Woodward says College Day provides the perfect opportunity for potential students to discover what the college offers.
“It can be for someone who has a career goal in mind and needs more information about that career, or it can be for someone who has never heard of CNA. College Day is for anyone who has an interest in attending CNA or for those looking at their options. You don’t have to have any prior knowledge about the college before you come in – that’s the whole purpose of this event.”
For more information including times and locations about College Day activities across the province, contact the CNA campus nearest you or visit the college’s website at www.cna.nl.ca.
