College of the North Atlantic - Qatar (CNA-Q) will host an unprecedented online event this summer – a global virtual science fair competition.
The World Virtual Science and Engineering Fair is open to students in Grades 10-12 as well as college students from over 200 countries.
Deemed by organizers as a fantastic and a truly unique experience, this world premiere event has no registration costs and entries can be new or ones that have been evaluated in other traditional and local virtual science fairs.
As the first global event of its kind, the fair differs from traditional physical-project-based science competitions. Participants will use the latest in internet and multimedia technology to submit their projects in the form of web pages. All submissions are made online and the majority of the judging will be conducted online as well.
Winning participants from each region – North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East and Oceania – will be flown to Doha, Qatar, all expenses paid in October to present their projects before an international panel of judges comprised of industry and educational leaders.
World championship prizes will be awarded in Doha to each of the regional winners and to the top three participants in the final competition. Prizes range from $300 - $20,000 with the top prize of $20,000 awarded in each of the two divisions - college and high school.
In addition to participants, organizers are currently recruiting judges worldwide. Anyone interested in being a participant or judge, are encouraged to contact Wilf Riego at wilfred.riego@cna-qatar.edu.qa or worldvirtualsciencefair@gmail.com.
The deadline for registering projects is June 10 with the final submission date set for June 30. For more information about the World Virtual Science and Engineering Fair, check out the website at www.worldvirtualsciencefair.cna-qatar.edu.qa.
