Dr. Daniel Wong.

Dr. Daniel Wong, Director of China Projects at College of the North Atlantic (CNA), has been granted the prestigious title of Co-Founder of Jilin University–Lambton College in China.

The designation is presented by the institution’s president Mr. Shujia Li. Li says it is because of Wong’s wisdom and contribution that the university college has become a model of Sino-Foreign cooperative education in China.

“During the six years of the [facility’s] existence, we have become one of the country’s premier educational institutions, achieving a high standing in society and an even greater standing with the Ministry of Education in China,” says Li. “The title of co-founder honours the fundamental contributions [Dr. Wong] has made since the beginning of the college in 1999 and is a mark of the esteem in which [he is] held.”

Wong, Ph.D., P.Eng., M.B.A., Eur. Ing., has been with CNA for a number of years, holding positions such as Campus Administrator at CNA’s Engineering Technology Centre, Chair of the School of Engineering Technology, and currently, Director of China Projects.

In his present position, he is responsible for facilitating an educational partnership with the Chinese university college and incorporating College of the North Atlantic's curriculum. Students at Jilin University–Lambton College are enrolled in CNA’s Engineering Technology and Business programming and have the option to do all or part of their studies in Newfoundland. CNA faculty members also teach at Jilin.

The title Co-Founder of Jilin University was also presented to Dr. Peter Fisher, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Dr. Grover Proctor, Northwood University, Michigan, USA and Mr. Bob Henry, Lambton College, Sarnia, Ontario.

The institution will honour the group at a ceremony in China in spring 2006.
