January 19, 2005 - College of the North Atlantic recently initiated development of an alumni association and will officially launch this new service on Thursday, February 3 at 4:30 p.m. from its Prince Philip Drive Campus in St. John’s.

All alumni of College of the North Atlantic and its predecessor institutions, such as Cabot College, Westviking College, Eastern Community College, the former Trades and District Vocational Schools, etc., are invited to attend this event (to confirm attendance call 758-7018 by Tuesday, February 1). For those living outside of St. John’s, you can watch the event unfold via webcast from the college’s website at www.cna.nl.ca.

Laura Edwards, Manager of Alumni and Advancement, says in addition to this official launch, the association will be holding similar events at all of its campus locations in the coming weeks and months.

“We are planning this official launch for February 3, but will also be holding alumni kick-off events at all of our campuses until the end of March,” she says.

“Of course, we would love for as many of our alumni as possible to attend these events, which are also open to retired faculty and guests, so we encourage them to listen for the announcement on the radio, watch the newspapers or sign up with the alumni association to receive a regular alumni e-newsletter.”

People can register with the alumni association by calling Ms. Edwards at 758-7515 or through the Alumni Association section of the college’s website, which is linked from the homepage.

Those who joined the association up to December 31 have been entered in a draw to win free gas for a year compliments of North Atlantic Petroleum and the winner of this contest will be announced during the official launch in St. John’s.
