May 12, 2004 – College of the North Atlantic (CNA) has entered into an educational partnership with Pei Zheng Commercial College (PZCC) in Guangzhou, China. This partnership provides the opportunity for PZCC students to graduate with a College of the North Atlantic Business Studies diploma.
The partnership recognizes the depth and quality of CNA’s curriculum in the international arena, says Corinne Dunne, Director of Development/College Advancement.
“Students who complete their diplomas in China or at College of the North Atlantic in Newfoundland and Labrador will have the same opportunity to transfer these credits to other universities in Canada and abroad, through articulation agreements we hold with other educational institutions,” she says.
Other alternatives are also available to these students, says Dunne.
“Chinese students have the choice of completing their CNA diploma at Pei Zheng Commercial College, or coming to Newfoundland and Labrador to study with us. Through us, these students will be able to avail of opportunities for future study in Canada.”
This type of partnership in China is not a first for CNA. They have partnerships with Jilin University in Changchun, Southern Yanagtez University in Wuxi, and Beijing Union University in Beijing. In addition, faculty from Sichuan University of Science and Technology are training, in part, at College of the North Atlantic as a component of a four-year Energy Management Systems project.
These and other international partnerships, including those in Qatar, India, and Vietnam, are part of the college’s mandate to enhance the capacity of the college and the province through international initiatives, including partnering with other educational institutions and international student recruitment.
